World of Wine-Introduction to wine tasting

From: KERRY WILKINSON:

Now that we've covered the theory of wine sensory, and you have a feeling for wine appearance, aroma, and flavour, let's walk through the process of assessing wine. The aim of technical wine evaluation is to objectively assess the various sensory properties of a wine. This includes its appearance, aroma, flavour, taste, and mouthfeel properties.

The complexity, body, and finish are also assessed in order to determine its overall wine quality. The hardest part of wine evaluation is trying to find the right sensory descriptors to use. To help you out, we've provided a number of resources for you to refer to. These include colour charts, aroma and flavour charts, and common taste and mouthfeel descriptors. You might like to refer to these when you're tasting your own wine to help you build your own tasting notes.
